A+, 5 stars, 10/10... I came in with a sore abdomen & sore thighs due to being rear ended in a serious car wreck. I worked 1 on 1 with Jake & April. Both knowledgeable, professional, considerate, & caring. My strength, mobility, & range of motion all have improved. The atmosphere was welcoming & very clean. I appreciate that I was taught exercises to do at home to continue my treatment & get back to 100%. In closing, I recommend this location to anyone that is looking for excellent PT services. Hands down excellent care! For some context, I recently moved to the area and required therapy post hand surgery. This is the third therapist I have worked with and fifth joint surgery I have had, so I am not new to PT. Nick and team absolutely stand out! The team at FSPT helped me tremendously.  I had suffered a shoulder-upper arm injury from a fall. In the course of the 8 weeks of therapy, my range of motion was restored to normal and my pain reduced to almost nothing.  they were always nice to me and ready to go with my planned workout. Great place for physical therapy; I worked with Nick and Carreghan and they were both fantastic. The environment is so friendly and there are lots of laughs. After my first visit with DPT Nicholas (Nick) Landry I was only able to turn my head to the left 22mm (0.9 inches). Within two sessions he was able to give back to me 57mm (2.5 inches) of range. After a month and a half I am not not only able to see all the way to the left, but I can also see up, which I haven't done in decades. NICHOLAS IS AN AMAZING THERAPIST. I can't speak highly enough about this guy's talent at helping people in pain. It's so refreshing to find someone who knows what they're doing and does so with kindness. Also, the receptionist, Kayle, is wonderful and helpful. FSPT, specifically in Kahawah City, is a GREAT place and THE ONLY physical therapy I trust in Charleston. 5 BIG STARS

If you will take the time to read what I have written here, you might find that you need to visit this exact branch of First Settlement in Kanawha City ASAP. When I first walked through the doors of this center, I had no idea that it would be one of the most important things that I would ever do—but it has initiated a turnaround in my life that before I thought was impossible. Let me explain my situation. Since 2019 I have suffered extensively from a condition known as Myofasical Pain sSyndrome. This is a chronic pain condition which—like its close cousin fibromyalgia—is extremely difficult to diagnose and treat because it is undetectable by the legions of machines that modern medical professionals rely upon to reach their conclusions. As such, it was three years before a medical professional finally made my official diagnosis. I have a severe case of Myofascial Pain Syndrome caused by trigger points in the muscles of my back and chest that defer pain to the network of fibers that surround the muscles of the chest wall. For nearly three years, literally every medical professional and specialist I visited failed to find my problem. I have been through three primary care physicians, one of which became so frustrated that she expressed disbelief in my pain altogether. By 2022 the medical system had completely failed me. I had lost employment more than once, could no longer drive a vehicle, wash dishes, or even tie my shoes without excruciating pain. My life was reduced to spending my days lying flat on my back on my living room floor with my chest covered in Bio-freeze. Then in July my current Doctor referred me to physical therapy. I had no confidence in this at first, since I had already tried it three times before and each time it made my problems worse. So, I just randomly chose a center and made the call for an appointment, not expecting any real results. Then on August 2nd, 2022, everything changed. This was the day of my first appointment at the Kanawha City First Settlement and immediately I was impressed to learn that Nick knew about my condition. This set his knowledge base on a much higher tier than 90 percent of the other medical professionals I had met thus far. When I told Nick that acupuncture seemed to keep my symptoms at bay just enough so that I could continue to exist, it told him everything he needed to know to actually begin treating my problem. As it turns out, Nick is an expert at forms of physical therapy largely unknown to most others in his field working in our region. He suggested that Dry Needling would gradually dispel the trigger points causing my extreme pain, and from the first session on he has been proven right again and again. Let me be clear: visiting this clinic was one of the most important things that I have ever done. My chronic disease had wrecked my life and the medical establishment had completely failed to do anything except bestow a tremendous burden of debt upon myself and my family. If you are suffering from chronic pain because of either a known or unknown condition—walk into this place today and speak to Nick and the other members of this exceptionally informed staff. Not much pain when needle went in and good result from procedure. Therapist always demonstrated the exercise ,so you know how it was done properly.Will go without hesitation to this location again! I work as a PTA and was suffering with Left shoulder muscle and nerve pain.  I would wake up with my arm numb.  Talk about scary!  I tried everything I knew and then sought out help.  Within a few short visits Nick and Carreghan found my impingement areas and zapped it right out.  They did the appropriate amount of follow up for strengthening so it wouldn't slip and get stuck again, but didn't keep me coming long than I need to. I started therapy with this company last August. I was treated at the South Charleston facility by Nick about 2 months ago. I have very severe leg contracture,  meaning I can't straighten my legs.  I had suffered through in home therapy for over 2 years before going to 1st settlement.  My leg contracture was actually getting worse. Finally, I started going to 1st Settlement South Charleston, and started seeing some improvement. I was thrilled at the thought that I might walk again.  I was there for several weeks before I was paired up with Nick. Nick immediately started doing a new procedure on my legs. In the last 2 months I have had more than double the success that I had in the previous 2 years. I'm continuing to show improvement weekly. Nick transferred to take over the Kanawha City location, and I immediately followed him there.  I realize he is my key to getting back on my feet. I have been going to FSPT since 2019. I have been seeing Julianne Williamson who is now located in Kanawha City and I would follow her anywhere!! They are great and help me even when I'm at home with things I can do to get thru to my next treatment! I love them and would definitely recommend them to anyone who ever needs any kind if therapy!
