Better Movement Starts Here

At First Settlement Physical Therapy (FSPT), we don’t just focus on where you hurt, we focus on how you move. Using FMS and SFMA, our therapists uncover the movement patterns behind pain, recurring injuries, and performance limitations.

What is FMS & SFMA?

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) is designed for people who aren’t currently injured but want to move better, feel stronger, and stay ahead of problems before they start. It highlights movement imbalances, weaknesses, or mobility restrictions that may not cause pain now but could lead to it later.

TThe Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) takes a deeper dive for those who are experiencing pain. Rather than focusing only on the area that hurts, our therapists use this assessment to uncover the true source of the issue, whether it stems from another joint, a muscle imbalance, or a breakdown in how your body moves as a connected system.

By understanding how your body moves as a whole, we’re able to create treatment and training plans that are not only effective in the short term, but designed to deliver lasting results.

Why Choose FSPT for FMS/SFMA?

At FSPT, movement isn’t just something we treat, it’s something we study, analyze, and optimize every day. Our therapists combine advanced FMS/SFMA with years of clinical experience to pinpoint inefficiencies that other physical therapy providers might overlook.

You’ll work one-on-one with a therapist who takes the time to understand your movement history, your goals, and your challenges and helps you move forward with greater confidence and control.

FMS/SFMA can help improve or prevent issues such as:
Whether your goal is to stay active, improve performance, or avoid future injuries, understanding your movement is key. At FSPT, our FMS and SFMA assessments help uncover what’s holding you back and create a clear path toward stronger, more efficient movement.
